Guided Hunts In Western Alaska

Why Choose a guided hunt? It's the Ultimate !!!

  • Take advantage of the guide's expertise in determining which trophy is right for you. Benefit from his knowledge of the area, and the location, habits and movement of the animals.
  • Leave the dressing and packing of your trophy to the experienced guide and the staff at OSPREY LODGE.
  • Know that the antlers of your trophy will be properly prepared by the lodge staff (ready for transporting on any aircraft).
  • Stay in both the lodge and a spike camp; enjoy the sauna and other comforts at the lodge as well as the remoteness of a spike camp.

The lodge has several scheduled weekly flights leaving Anchorage. These flights are scheduled the months of August and September.

Each hunter will be limited to 55# of gear coming out on the chartered flight. That 55# includes the hunter's firearm and any beverages.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game considers the 30-06 an adequate firearm when hunting big game animals in Alaska. It is of equal importance to use a caliber the hunter is familiar with and one of which the hunter feels comfortable. Firearms can be sited-in at the lodge; however, we recommend the hunter be proficient in the use of the firearm before arriving at OSPREY LODGE.

OSPREY LODGE offers a variety of guided hunts in both game units 17 & 19. Licenses and tags can be purchased as the lodge upon arrival.

SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT LIST:
  • ..a waterproof insulated HAT, extra camp SHOES and several pairs of PANTS (waterproof fleece is a good choice)
  • ..several SHIRTS, a pair of insulated GLOVES and PERSONAL ITEMS (especially medicines)
  • ..waterproof (bottoms especially) above ankle HIKING BOOTS. September hunters add insulated knee high RUBBER BOOTS
  • ..a warm HOODED JACKET and possibly a VEST, down or fleece is recommended
  • ..extra SOCKS and a good quality set of RAIN GEAR (rubber is recommended)
  • ..THERMAL LIGHT UNDERWEAR (temperatures are usually cooler than expected)
  • ..a WARM SLEEPING BAG and BINOCULARS
  • ..if planning on a fly-out fishing adventure, include a FISHING POLE loaded with 10-15# test line, 15 STEEL LEADERS for pike and an assortment of mepps spinners, cleos and pixies
  • ..CAMERA (waterproof if possible) and FILM
  • ..your own personal WATER BOTTLE
  • ..a mosquito HEADNET and BUG SPRAY

Unguided Caribou
Trophy caribou taken in Alaska with Osprey Lodge offering Alaska caribou hunting, Alaska moose hunting, Alaska bear hunting, grizzley bear hunts, Alaska fishing, Alaska fishing resorts, hunting resorts, Osprey Lodge, silver salmon fishing, pike fishing, This unguided hunt will begin in a spike camp. Upon bagging an animal(s) the hunter will return to the lodge.

Everything is provided in this package except for the hunters firearm, personal gear, hunter's license and tag(s). This price includes boning, boxing and freezing of meat. Trophy preparation is done by the hunter.

Options at the lodge include fishing in a nearby stream or a 2 day/1 night fly-out fishing adventure (see fishing page for particulars).

This chartered round-trip flight originates in Anchorage. Gear for the hunter/observer on this flight is limited to 55 lbs. (including firearm and beverage.)
